Abstract. While most geometric structures on a manifold M do not determine a preferred linear connection on M, for many structures one can construct a canonical "tractor bundle" over M that does admit a preferred connection. This "tractor connection" is a fundamental feature of the geometric structure and can be used to study and solve geometric problems, including the construction of invariants and invariant differential operators. The first talk will introduce the tractor geometry of CR structures. The second will describe the relationship between the tractor bundles and connections of the structures in a CR embedding, with outlook to applications to embedding problems, following a recent preprint of Curry and Gover.
